Presenters:

Sharon Lee 

Sharon Lee is an experienced fundraiser and mentor in the voluntary and philanthropic sector.

Sharon is passionate about cross-cultural and diverse fundraising practices and is the author of “Fundraising in Diverse Cultures, using the Chinese Community as an example”.

Sharon has presented at the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) in 2010 and at the Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) of Greater Toronto’s Congress in 2012.

Sharon has a BA (Honours) from the University of Toronto and holds a MA in Non Profit Management (Philanthropy & Development) from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Sharon is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a graduate of the AFP Faculty Training Academy and the CAGP Original Course.

Sharon is a member of Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) Greater Toronto and Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE).

Sharon is currently on the board of Health Nexus (Ontario’s leading bilingual health promotion organization), Polycultural Immigration and Community Services (PICS) and AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Canada (the philanthropic arm of Association of Fundraising Profession)

Parag Tandon

 Parag is a passionate and committed professional with a strong and successful track record of over 14 years of leadership roles in various not-for-profit and private organizations. He has effectively led several corporate initiatives encompassing community advocacy organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, diversity management, research and writing, and fundraising, giving community and organizations that he is a part of a leading edge.Having a personal commitment to social responsibility, he takes a proactive role through several formal and informal forums to help new immigrants integrate effectively into the social and business world in Canada.  He has held several Community outreach roles in the not-for-profit sector, from United Way Toronto to CNIB. 

In 2010, Parag was voted One of Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants.  In 2004, The South Asian Professionals of Canada recognized Parag’s outstanding contribution to the community by giving him an Award for “Excellence in Business and Management”. 

Parag has a personal aspiration to continue to provide stronger leadership to promote a diverse and inclusive not-for-profit sector that fosters the growth and development of young professionals.  Some of his past volunteer work includes being a Board Member of United Way of York Region, Co-Chair of Association of Fundraising Professionals Diversity Committee and a Member of the International Association of Fundraising Professionals Diversity Committee. 

Parag holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources and as a self proclaimed geek… he also has ITIL v 3.0 certification.

  • Expert Panelist in the creation of the Global Diversity & Inclusion Benchmarks: Standards for Organizations Around the World (2011)
  • Host and facilitator for Ryerson University’s Pilot Project on Diversity in Workplace (2011)
  • Keynote at the Annual JSW Conference hosted by COSTI and CIC (2011)
