Their experiences have led to a body of knowledge which will inspire and reassure you as you walk out of your comfort zone to engage new Canadians in your cause.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn why it is critical to be &#8216;properly introduced&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Learn why there may be public silence around your cause<\/li>\n<li>Learn the importance of the religious calendar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Presenters:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Sharon Lee\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qpr.ca\/blogs\/connie\/files\/2012\/12\/Sharon-Lee-Photo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2097\" src=\"http:\/\/qpr.ca\/blogs\/connie\/files\/2012\/12\/Sharon-Lee-Photo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sharon Lee is an experienced fundraiser and mentor in the voluntary and philanthropic sector.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon is passionate about cross-cultural and diverse fundraising practices and is the author of \u201cFundraising in Diverse Cultures, using the Chinese Community as an example\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon has presented at the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) in 2010 and at the Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) of Greater Toronto\u2019s Congress in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon has a BA (Honours) from the University of Toronto and holds a MA in Non Profit Management (Philanthropy &amp; Development) from Saint Mary\u2019s University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a graduate of the AFP Faculty Training Academy and the CAGP Original Course.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon is a member of Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) Greater Toronto and Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE).<\/p>\n<p>Sharon is currently on the board of Health Nexus (Ontario\u2019s leading bilingual health promotion organization), Polycultural Immigration and Community Services (PICS) and AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Canada (the philanthropic arm of Association of Fundraising Profession)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Parag Tandon<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qpr.ca\/blogs\/connie\/files\/2012\/12\/Parag-Tandon-pic.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/qpr.ca\/blogs\/connie\/files\/2012\/12\/Parag-Tandon-pic-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">Parag is a passionate and committed professional with a strong and successful track record of over 14 years\u00a0of leadership roles in various not-for-profit and private organizations. He has effectively led several corporate initiatives encompassing community advocacy organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, diversity management, research and writing, and fundraising, giving community and organizations that he is a part of a leading edge.Having a personal commitment to social responsibility, he takes a proactive role through several formal and informal forums to help new immigrants integrate effectively into the social and business world in Canada.\u00a0 He has held several Community outreach roles in the not-for-profit sector, from United Way Toronto to CNIB.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">In 2010, Parag was voted One of Canada\u2019s Top 25 Immigrants.\u00a0 In 2004, The South Asian Professionals of Canada recognized Parag\u2019s outstanding contribution to the community by giving him an Award for \u201cExcellence in Business and Management\u201d.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Parag has a personal aspiration to continue to provide stronger leadership to promote a diverse and inclusive not-for-profit sector that fosters the growth and development of young professionals. \u00a0Some of his past volunteer work includes being a <strong>Board Member <\/strong>of United Way of York Region,<strong> Co-Chair <\/strong>of Association of Fundraising Professionals Diversity Committee<strong> <\/strong>and a<strong> Member <\/strong>of the International Association of Fundraising Professionals Diversity Committee.<span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Parag holds a Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degree in Business Administration.
