Andrew Ho
Andrew is currently the Manager for Global Philanthropy at the Council on Foundations, where he is responsible for developing resources and programs for effective grantmaking globally among Council members. He also served for two years as Member Services Manager for the Family Philanthropy Services department, where he provided resources, programs, and services to family philanthropies and next generation philanthropic leaders. Previously Andrew was a consultant at TCC Group, where he specialized in strategic planning and capacity building for foundations and nonprofits. He has also spent time at Asian Americans / Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), and The Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy.
Andrew is the author of several research papers on philanthropy, including “Chinese-American Diaspora Philanthropy”, which was published in the March 2011 Journal of Asian Business (Univ. of Michigan), and “Asian-American Philanthropy: Expanding Knowledge, Increasing Possibilities,” a working paper presenting findings on the motivations and attitudes of Asian-Americans towards philanthropy, which was cited in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and the Sydney Morning Herald. His research on giving circles (Asian American Giving Circles: Building Bridges Between Philanthropy and Our Communities) was published in November 2008. He has since co-founded the Cherry Blossom Giving Circle in Washington, DC, where he is a co-chair of the steering committee member of the local chapter of AAPIP. He was selected as a 2010 Independent Sector American Express NGen Fellow. Andrew holds an MBA and a Master’s in Public Policy from Georgetown University, where he was a Waldemar A. Nielsen Philanthropy Fellow.
