Wireless Access: The Next Great Municipal Crisis

eWeek’s Larry Seltzer dumps on Philadelphia’s plan for wireless internet infrastructure.
He claims to be making a technical argument about security, but it’s really just a disguised attack on public ownership.
Eventually full coverage by WiFi or WiMax is going to come to every major city, and the security issues will be the same whether the infrastructure is publicly or privately owned. If he had actually dealt with those issues and proposed technical solutions the article might have been useful. But as it is, the alleged security concerns were just a totally dishonest smokescreen to cover what was really just an ideological rant.
Grossly dishonest!
